The Louise Bahns Memorial Fund is held with the Charities Aid foundation. Donations can be made either my sending a cheque made out to the 'Louise Bahns Memorial Fund' to CAF at: Attn Graham Clark Charities Aid Foundation Kings Hill West Malling, Kent ME19 4TA qouting reference T/70185532/G If donors complete a gift aid form and send it with the cheque, the charity can receive the income tax back on donations given by UK taxpayers of approximately 28p in each pound. The capital is invested conservatively with the aim of generating an annual income that can be distributed to speciifc causes. We have made a donation to Christie Lake Kids, an organisation based near Ottawa which provides summer camp facilities for disadvantaged children from the region. The organisation has built a kayak store and wet weather activity centre in Louise's name (see photos below). We are also supporting a rural health clinic and creche in Nepal which provides daycare facilities for around sixty mothers in a rural area around three days walk from Pokhara. A donation was also made to the Women's Empowerment Programme in Nepal which has been used to provide healthcare related educational materials for approximately 12,000 women. |
